David and Sarah Balogun
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to the United States when I was about 7 years old. I grew up in a Christian household; my father was a pastor, and I've been going to church all my life. However, I never really knew God for myself. I was compelled to live this "holy life" because my dad was a pastor, and other kids looked up to me. The honest truth was that my dad and I didn't have a good relationship, which led me to seek affirmation in other things, like getting good grades and being good at sports, thinking I could do that to please my father.
I didn't start knowing who Christ is until about junior year of high school when one of my friends asked if I wanted to go to their youth group with them. That's when I really started knowing God for myself; they taught me things that I just didn't know. It didn't matter about religion or following the rules; what really mattered is the love that He has for me and how He gave up His only son for me on a cross. I realized that I don't have to seek affirmation in other things or try to please my dad because the God who created me loves me more than my father does.
Now, my heart is for college students seeking meaning. I desire to be a campus laborer, helping them discover a personal relationship with God. Your support can equip me to bring hope and truth to those in need. Join me in making a lasting impact on countless lives.
